Meet the On-Site Management Team


Frank Hursey, President and Founder

The President and Founder of On Site Gas Systems is a pioneer of PSA Oxygen technology. He was on the breathing air team of the Apollo Program, and helped develop one of the first oxygen concentrators for home use. Frank founded On Site Gas Systems in 1987. His vision was a company whose focus would be perfecting the PSA process through research and development, while providing cost-saving, reliable nitrogen and oxygen generation systems for numerous applications. Frank's innovative and entrepreneurial spirit has resulted in On Site Gas Systems being named one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Connecticut for the past 7 years. Frank attended the University of Hartford and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and a M.S. in Business Management, respectively. Through his R&D efforts, Frank holds a number of patents and was recognized in 2003 by Scientific American as a Research Leader.

 

Guy Hatch, CEO

Guy has a broad business and technology background with Fortune 50 companies. He was with the Johnson & Johnson medical devices company, Ethicon, primarily in operations and engineering assignments, and responsible for converting several plants to lean manufacturing. He spent several years at UTC in finance, technology and general management roles at UTC Research Center, UTC Corporate Headquarters and UTC Fuel Cells. Prior to joining On Site, Mr. Hatch was the COO for the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, a non-profit technology-based economic development corporation. Guy is a graduate of West Point, MIT's Sloan School and teaches technology management as an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford's Barney School of Business.

 

Bob Wolff, Vice President of Sales

Bob has a strong sales, sales management and executive management background, including owning his own sales rep group. His most recent position before joining On Site Gas Systems was with a $100M public company based in Texas where he was the VP of Sales and the acting Executive VP for the company's largest subsidiary. His experience in business development and sales management will ensure the continued growth of On Site Gas Systems. Bob attended Roger Williams University, earning a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Business Administration.

 

Sean Haggerty, Vice President of Manufacturing

Sean has 30 years experience in design and manufacturing operations, with products ranging from specialty steel to helicopters to fuel cells. Over the years, he has worked for large corporations and start-ups including Carpenter Technology, Sikorsky Aircraft, UTC Fuel Cells, Fuel Cell Energy, and Honeywell Life Systems. Sean brings the ability to implement ISO quality systems, continuous improvement processes, ERP deployment and incorporating reliability modeling and analysis into the product development process. He has also lead Shingijitsu Kaizen (Toyota's methodology) events to implement lean manufacturing methods. Sean holds a patent and has earned several degrees over his working career, a BS in materials from University of New Haven, a MS in technical management from Hartford Graduate Center, and a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

Sanh Q. Phan, Chief Engineer

Sanh has worked alongside Frank for the past 25 years, and has been with On Site Gas Systems since its inception. He has designed and developed oxygen and nitrogen generators of all types, sizes and purity levels, and a review of our product line demonstrates his innovative ability. Simplicity, reliability and efficiency are his hallmarks. Sanh is responsible for the design of our Portable Oxygen Generating System (POGS) units, which are helping to save the lives of our troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and around the world. He has also designed the only PSA system capable of producing oxygen at a purity of 99%, which is used by hospitals around the world. Sanh was born and raised in Vietnam, and endured many hardships to escape with his young brother to the USA. His tenacity and dedication are reflected in his work. Sanh has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Hartford Technical College and holds several patents.

 

Rich Stiefel, Chief Financial Officer

Rich is a CPA and has held several positions of increasing responsibility in finance and accounting. He began his career in public accounting with clients in numerous industries, including manufacturing, construction and insurance. He has been the controller and director of internal audit at both public and privately held companies. Prior to joining On Site, he structured secure debt financing and equity investments to position companies for expansion. His experience with fast growing, multi-location, multi-national manufacturing and service companies brings a level of expertise necessary to continue our strong growth. Rich graduated from Guilford College with a B.S. in Accounting and a M.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

Mike Thibou, Director of Field Services

Mike has nearly two decades of experience in both cryo and non-cryo oxygen and nitrogen gas production. He has specified, designed, installed, operated and serviced PSA, membrane and cryogenic systems throughout the US and around the world. Mike's background is the perfect fit for On Site Gas, and our customers who need nitrogen (and lots of it) for mine, oil and gas applications. He and his experienced field rapid response team members focus on the customer, and their often time-critical need for a new, leased or rental N2 system. Mike has a degree in Mechanical Technology from Lehigh Carbon College, has been a contributing author to a number of NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health) research papers relevant to fighting underground coal mine fires, and holds several patents.

 

Marylin O'Connor, Director of Human Resources

Marylin brings a wealth of business and human resources experience to On Site Gas Systems. She most recently was with United Technologies Corporation and MassMutual Financial Services in human resource leadership roles.  Marylin's expertise includes recruitment, career counseling, employee relations, compensation, benefits, business operations and communications.  She has a BS degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University and is on the advisory board for the University of Hartford's Center for Professional Development.
